Sherren Arsenault Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Frances "Sherren" Arsenault (née Shea), of Summerside, PEI, 81 years of age.  Death occurred at Garden Home in Charlottetown on Saturday July 11, 2026. Born in Anglo-Tignish, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Helena (Villard) Shea, and step-daughter of the late Clifton Gavin. She was the beloved wife of the late Clarence (CJ) Arsenault, mother to sons Donat of Sydney and Robert (Debbie) of Halifax, grandmother to Lynaya (Donat) and grandniece Kimberly Powers, who was like a granddaughter to her.


 


Sherren is survived by her sisters Margaret (+Roy) Albert and Betty Ann (+Carl) Arrigoni, brother-in-law Lornie (+Shiela) Powers, and many nieces and nephews.


 


She was predeceased by her brother Johnny (Hazel) Shea, sisters Shirley (+Pius) Ellsworth, Stella (+Cecil) Gavin and Sheila (Lornie) Powers, brothers-in-law Euclide (+Julia), Edward (+Beatrice), Martin (Wilma), René (+Phyllis), Raymond, and Wilfred (Stella), sisters-in-law Josephine (+Cyr) Gallant, Anita (+Expedit) Gallant, Louise (+Dolore) Gallant and Florence (+Elmer) Gallant, and father/mother-in-law Donat M. and Beatrice (Aucoin) Arsenault.


 


Sherren and Clarence married on November 21, 1964 and moved to Piusville. After selling their farm, they moved to Rosebank. She worked as a Custodian at Westisle High School, Alberton Elementary and Bloomfield Elementary. After retiring, she and Clarence moved to Summerside. Sherren kept active with the Catholic Women's League at both St. Anthony’s Parish in Bloomfield and St. Paul’s Parish in Summerside. She volunteered to help with funerals through St. Paul’s, and with Hospice at the Prince County Hospital. Sherren also spent many years collecting donations of clothing, food, eye wear and toys for Father Roy Shea’s missionary work in Brazil.


 


Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside, with visitation on Thursday, July 16th, 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.  Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday, July 17th, 2026 at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church, Summerside.  Interment will take place in St. Paul's Cemetry following mass.
