The death occurred suddenly at Andrews of Parkhill on Tuesday, June 16th, 2026 of Edward “Joey” Gallant of Summerside, aged 82 years.  Joey was born in Summerside to his late parents Edward and Mary (Doucette) Gallant.  Beloved life partner of Nancy Bertin and loving father of Ryan Gallant, step-father of Dawn (Paul) O’Rourke, Chris (Ali) Bertin and Mike (Cindy) Langlois. 

Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Naomi, Bodhi, Chandra, Blake, Connor, Caitlin, Julia and many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his sisters Edna “Eddie” Leech, Eleanor Clancy, Margaret “Peggy” Porr, and Mary Martha "Marty" Cunningham (nee Gallant).

Joey requested that his remains be donated to the Human Body Donation Program out of the Department of Medical and Neurosciences at Dalhousie University. This program honours Joey’s wish to leave a lasting legacy of continuous learning by contributing to the teaching of our next generation of health professionals.

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside.  By personal request, there will be no visiting hours or service held.  Interment to be held at a later date.

Donations in Edward’s memory can be made directly to Dalhousie's Faculty of Medicine or to the  Alzheimer Society of PEI.

Joey was an incredibly kind and thoughtful man and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is probably eating chocolate and reading a Clive Cussler book in Heaven with his beautiful kitty, Molly.
