John passed away peacefully at Prince County Hospital on June 17, 2026 survived by his wife Mary Ramsay (nee Kennedy), son Michael (Hannah Waxer), daughter Leslie, daughter-in-law Meghan MacAulay, grandchildren Claire, Jacob, Lucas and Colin, sister Beth Evans (Ken), and the Kennedy family. Predeceased by beloved son Mark.

John lived with ALS the last six years of his life and the assistance he and his family received over that time was so widespread that it is difficult to thank everyone. We truly appreciate everyone who

provided assistance in all its forms and would particularly like to thank: Cindy and the volunteers and staff of the ALS Society of PEI; Helen and the doctors and staff of the Montreal Neuroclinic; Susan and the doctors, nurse practitioners and staff at Harbourside Medical Clinic; John’s close friend Rocky Arsenault; Kim and Martina and the rest of the staff of Health PEI Home Care; private care worker Valerie Hickox; John and Mary’s many friends and neighbours; and the doctors, nurses, respiratory techs and all other staff of the Surgical and Emergency Units of Prince County Hospital who provided insightful guidance and compassionate care to John and his family in his final days.

John’s family will celebrate his life privately in a way befitting his memory and no visitation or service will be held.
