The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PE on Tuesday, June 2nd, 2026 of Melvin Joseph Laviolette of Summerside aged 70 years.  Melvin was born in St. Edwards, PE to his late parents Joseph and Esther (Gaudet) Laviolette.  Loving father of Louie Gallant (deceased-Tonia) and Melvin Jr. Laviolette.  Father figure to Kim Coughlin, Amanda Adams, David Snowdon and Ricky Snowdon.

Also lovingly remembered by 4 grandchildren  Zander, Brandi, Bri, Dawn, chosen grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. 

Survived by the following sisters:  Brenda (Donnie) Gallant, Diane (Tim) Craig, Bernadine (Jerry) Jeffery and sister-in-law Sharon Laviolette and several nieces and nephews.

Special close friends Brenda & Albert Milligan, Peter MacLellan & Mary Sullivan, Gordon Purdy, Kline Sonier, Larry & Sybil Etheringtonm, Christine MacNeill and Carl Campbell.

Predeceased by his brother Maurice.

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside.  A Celebration of Life will be held at the Centre Belle-Alliance (Summerside French School) 5 Maris Stella Ave, Summerside, on Friday, June 26th, 2026, between 7 - 10 p.m.
