Marlene Donna Brown Obituary

Marlene Brown, aged 60, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 8th, 2026 at home, surrounded by family and loved ones in New London, Prince Edward Island.

She was born on August 12th, 1965 in Summerside, PEI, to her late parents Leo & Shirley Murphy. Raised on the island with her many siblings, Marlene attended post secondary studies in New Brunswick, before making the move to Ontario in 1985 with a few girlfriends from the island. Marlene settled in Kitchener Waterloo before meeting her husband Michael, and the two purchased a home in the village of Ayr where they lived for over thirty years, raising their daughters, Meghan & Madison.

Marlene ran a daycare when her daughters were young, later starting a cleaning business and working at the local post office before finding her passion for real estate later in life. She quickly became a well respected realtor in the KW region. Her talent for connecting with people led her to build lasting relationships with many of her clients, and within years her business was built exclusively off of referrals from past and present clients alike. After moving back to PEI in 2024, she regularly flew back to Ontario to support clients as she enjoyed her work far too much to retire!

Marlene was an active member of the Ayr community, and was heavily involved in the St Brigid parish during her daughter’s childhoods. She was regularly spotted around town - walking with friends, volunteering, dropping meals & treats off to neighbours and clients, or talking for far too long in Foodland when she had just stepped out to “pick up a few things for dinner”. She naturally radiated warmth and kindness wherever she went, and as result, rarely made it anywhere without stopping to chat with several people on the way.

Marlene is survived by her husband and daughters, in addition to her brothers and sisters (Paul Murphy, Patsy Paynter, Kevin Murphy, Judy Grady, Lorna Walsh, Angie Murphy, Bobby Murphy & Kenny Murphy) and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Saturday, May 9th, with funeral services scheduled for 2:30 PM. A celebration of life will be held at the Boxcar in Emerald following the funeral service, with an additional Celebration of Life scheduled for May 24th in Cambridge, Ontario.

Donations in Marlene’s memory can be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
