Margaret Mary McKenna Obituary
Margaret “Marge”(Grunsky) McKenna of Summerside passed away at Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PE, on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, at the age of 103. Marge was born just outside of Humboldt, Saskatchewan.
Predeceased by her parents Michael and Louise (Hall) Grunsky, her husband Martin and son, Reggie.
Survived by her children Edward (Florence), Charles, Anne (Patrick), Michael (Linda), Mary, Marilyn (Gabriel), Danny, Pat (Rebbeca) and by her nieces and nephews.
At age 19, Marge joined the RCAF and served her country for 4 years in Ottawa, Ont. Marge was one of the oldest veterans on PEI. She was a member of the CWL at St. Pauls Parish, often volunteered at the canteen for bingo and other events as well as visiting parishioners who were sick or lonely in the Summerside area. Marge spent many years as a volunteer at the old Prince County Hospital gift shop and was an original board member of St. Eleanors House. She worked as a crossing guard for 5 years on Granville Street for the City of Summerside, where she enjoyed the many children she met.
Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were a source of great joy for Marge, as she loved recalling the many stories of her life and sharing what was happening in their lives.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, PEI. until Wednesday, June 17, 2026 where a funeral mass will be held at St. Paul's Catholic Church, Summerside at 11:00 a.m.
The Summerside Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 5 will hold a Legion Service at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 17th, 2026, at 10:15 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
