The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her family at the Prince County Hospital on Friday, 1st May, 2026, of Diane Margaret Dixon of Summerside, PEI, formally of Winnipeg, Manitoba, aged 89 years.
Diane was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba to her late parents Joseph and Margaret Lindsay. Beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Dixon and loving mother of Linda (Wilfred) DesRoches, Debbie (Richard) Sevigny, Robert (Francine) Dixon and Nancy (Jon) Fowler.
Much loved Grandma to Jacob (Jessica), Lyndsay, Diane (Sheldon), Joey (Angie), Christopher, Alex (Richelle), Jack, Anik (Francois), Scott, Thomas (Leonie), Phillip, Genevieve (Pascal), Cedrick (Élise), and Andréane.
Also lovingly remembered by her great-grandchildren, Sean (Eileen), Nicole, Abby (Jaden), Todd (Ashton), Ashley (Chris), Élise, Alice, Arthur, Elliot, Byanka and Emrik as well as several nieces and nephews.
Survived by her brother Joey (Joan) Lindsay.
Predeceased by brother Jack, sister Joyce and brother-in-law Ron Worobey.
Diane was a successful entrepreneur who owned and operated the Fair Isle Yarn Shoppe for many years. Her service to the community spanned a lifetime as she served as a Girl Guide Commissioner in Slemon Park in the 70’s, as the President of the Miscouche Legion Branch #18, as a founding member of the St. Eleanor’s Lioness, and as a Civilian Instructor with the #85 Summerside Royal Canadian Sea Cadet Corps. Diane was an avid knitter and crocheter creating warmth by donating many handmade afghans to the Prince County Hospital and other groups over the years.
Diane was a proud military wife for many years. Postings included Winnipeg, Belgium and France in the early 60’s with her husband and young family. They returned to Canada and were stationed at CFB Summerside and remained on the Island.
Diane enjoyed going out for dinner with the crew from the apartment block.
Mom left us with the final words of ‘See you later…’
Keeping true to her values of community service and giving over the years, donations in Diane’s memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
As per Mom's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service held.
A celebration of life will occur at a later date.
