It is with great sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of Gerald Allan Bernard on April 27, 2026, after battling cancer. Predeceased by his mother, Goldie Bernard. Gerry was born on February 22, 1942, in Kensington, Prince Edward Island.

Gerry is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 49 years, Nettie, his daughters Leslie, Gillian, and son-in-law Gordon. Grandchildren Emily, Gabriel, Rileigh, and Simon, great granddaughter Aliya, sister Beryl Filmore, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gerry joined the Air Force in 1962. His career took him across Canada, the Middle East, and Europe. Retiring in 1996 in Trenton, Ontario, before coming home to Summerside, P.E.I. in 2025.

Gerry enjoyed numerous outdoor activities, especially golfing, fishing, skiing, curling, and watching his beloved Blue Jays. He loved woodworking and painting. He was very creative. He had many friends, and his best friend Keith MacFarlane were golf buddies for years.

Nettie introduced Gerry to Newfoundland, where he formed loving and close relationships to all of Netties' brothers and sisters.

His sense of humor and laughter will be missed by all. Gerry loved music, beer, bonfires, and spending time with his grandchildren.

We would like to thank the nurses and doctors at Prince County Hospital for their compassionate care for our Dad.

Donations in his honor can be made directly to the Cancer Society, your local food bank or the Salvation Army.
