Jessie Loraine Jay Obituary

The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by family, at Andrews of Summerside, Summerside, PE, on Saturday, April 25th, 2026 of  "Jessie" Loraine Jay (Gardiner) of Summerside and formerly of Cape Traverse, PEI.  Jessie was born in Cape Traverse to the late Haszard and Bessie Gardiner (Bramhall). Beloved wife of the late Norman Jay and loving mother of Brian Jay, Brenda Gaudet (Albert- deceased) and Sandra (Walter) Paynter. Special grandmother to Jason (deceased), Mark (Taylor) Paynter, Sara (Mason) Ramsay, great grandmother to Isla, Jay, Afton and Iver. 


Survived by her brother Wayne (Mabel) Gardiner, brother-in-law Everett MacNeill, sister-in-law Lynda Gardiner and many nieces and nephews.


Predeceased by her son Alvin Jay, brothers and sisters Gerald Gardiner, Alvin Gardiner, Velda (Lee) Clifton, Auldon "Aullie" Gardiner, Sheldon Gardiner and June MacNeill.


Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel for family, friends and church family on Thursday, April 30th, 2026 at 1:00 pm.  By personal request, there will be no visiting hours held


Donations in Jessie’s memory can be made directly to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Society.
