Peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home, Mary Catherine Cameron passed away on April 10, 2026, at the age of 57.
Born in Summerside, PEI, on March 11, 1969, Mary made her beautiful presence felt in so many ways. Growing up in a big family, sports became instrumental in Mary's life. Her competitive spirit brought her great success in many sports. Her love of basketball led her to Dalhousie University where she excelled on the court, earning numerous awards, including Rookie of the Year and AUS All Star, all while attaining her degree in Commerce. Later in life, Mary joined the pickleball community where she formed many close relationships and became a fierce competitor, humbly winning tournaments on and off the Island.
During her post university years, Mary settled in Summerside and worked at the Summerside Tax Centre until her retirement in 2023. Here, she formed new friendships that she held dearly over the years.
Mary was a quiet leader who led by example in all areas of her life and an inspiration to so many. A fitness enthusiast, Mary enjoyed working out, hiking, bike rides with her family, and the outdoors.
Mary's greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving and proud mother of three, an incredible sister, and an amazing friend. Her favourite thing to do was spend time with her family at her cottage in Seven Mile Bay where so many beautiful memories were created.
Mary will be forever cherished by her loving husband, Sam, of 25 years, and her children Sophia Dalton, Xavier Dalton, and Gabriel Dalton, all who meant the world to her and were her greatest sources of pride and joy. She is survived by many siblings, including Ann Elliott (Roger), Valerie Olscamp (Paul), Arlene Cameron, Theresa Cameron, Michael Cameron, Robert Cameron (Dawn Marie), Paul Cameron (Michelle), Marjorie Cameron (Scott), and Mark Cameron (Rowena) as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary is predeceased by her parents, Una and Everett Cameron, and brothers Donald Cameron and George Cameron.
Mary's smile and quiet demeanor and her uplifting laugh will carry on in our hearts forever. She will be forever loved and missed by everyone who knew her.
