The death of Georges Alain Lucien Thomarat of Elizabeth Ave, Summerside, PEI, aged 94 years occurred peacefully with family by his side at Palliative Care, O’Leary Community Hospital, PEI on Feb 4, 2026.


Loving husband for 64 years of Mildred (Millie) A. (nee Cameron) Thomarat. Devoted father of Alan ( Elaine Unrau) of Saskatoon, Sk, Paul of Toronto, Ont, Robert of Summerside, and Mona Thomarat (Ken Murphy) of New Ross, NS. He is also lovingly remembered by 9 grandchildren, Jacquie (Kevin) (Saskatoon), Michelle (Maya) (Toronto) and Greg (Regina), Jordan (Kacie) (California) Ryan (Banff), Steven and Cathy (Saskatoon) and Chris and Jenn (Halifax). Also lovingly remembered by 11 great grandchildren, Ayda, Isha, Kayla, Sophia, Olivia, Jordan, Landon, Laila, Tyson, Maddie and Ben. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and numerous cousins.


He was predeceased by his loving wife Millie (nee Cameron) Thomarat in 2017. Also predeceased by his parents Armand H.J. Thomarat and Jeanne Aline (nee Falque) of France and Duck Lake, SK, his sister Simone (Ronald) Brown, brothers Armand (Betty) Thomarat, Saskatoon,SK, Maurice (Helen) Thomarat of Edam, Sk, Gilbert (Eileen) Thomarat of Mississauga, ON.

Francis Cameron and Urban “Sparky” Cameron of Summerside, Donald (Carole) Cameron of Kitchener, ON, Lois (Milton) Anderson of Creston BC, Mary (Anthony) Landry of Montreal Que, Miriam “ Midge ”(Robert) Colville of Halifax, NS, John “Jack” Cameron of Toronto,ON, Teresa (George) Rafferty of Toronto, ON and Noreen (Rosaire) Levesque, Montreal, QC.  Predeceased by nieces, Jacqueline (Mississauga) and Jan ( England), nephews Peter and Cameron (BC), Paul (Halifax)


George was a Navigation Officer in the Royal Canadian Air Force, an Adjuster/ Supervisor /Manager in the Insurance Industry. He was a graduate of the Insurance Institute of Canada (AIIC).


He was very involved in the Parish Council work, helping at functions and as Sacristan, the Knights of Columbus, 3rd and 4th Degree and Honour Guard. He was a graduate of the Diocese of Saskatoon Lay Formation Program.


George has spent countless hours in Genealogy Research, even inputting data 2 weeks ago. He was Vice-President of the PEI Genealogy Society and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Royal Canadian Air Force Association (at large).


Visitation will be held at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd, Summerside on Wed Feb 11th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. (Knights of Columbus prayer @ 1:45) Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Paul’s Roman Catholic Church in Summerside on Thursday Feb 12th @ 10:30 am with reception to follow in church hall. Burial at St Paul’s RC Cemetery in Summerside at a later date.


The family is very thankful to the staff at Prince County Hospital ER Department ( Dr.  Harnanan). As well, to the wonderful, caring staff at the O’Leary Community Hospital Palliative care unit. ( Dr Blais, Dr Wedge,Dr Lemarche, Dr Lecour, Nurses, PCW’s, Cleaners, Hospice PEI, Security Guards and especially the Cooks / kitchen staff – your food was delicious-Dad loved it). They showed dad compassion and dignity right until the end.


The family requests that any donations may be made to St Paul Cemetery Fund, Prince County Hospital ICU or ER dept, O’Leary Hospital Palliative Care Unit, or Diabetes, Heart or Cancer research.
