Errol Thomas Howard was born February 13th, 1939, in Howard’s Cove, Prince Edward Island into a family of 5 sisters and 4 brothers. He grew up on a mixed farm, helping brothers with chores, swimming, learning to skate and play hockey on a duck pond located behind the Howard homestead. His love for hockey would be lifelong as he would go on to play with the O’Leary Maroons, and later recreationally in Ontario as well as with the Kensington Old Timers - PEI. In his senior years he continued to enjoy watching hockey be it his children/nephews playing, or watching Hockey Night in Canada.

Errol left PEI at a very young age to work in the Canadian Arctic with the U.S Air Force as a heavy equipment operator for 16 years on the Dew Line.   At the age of 30, he married Beverly Greenen, moved to Bampton, Ontario for eight years had two children.  Errol continued to work as a heavy equipment operator on subway system construction projects. In 1978, he moved his family to Summerfield, PEI and started a small business that he and his wife successfully operated over the next 32 years. Upon retirement Errol and Bev moved to Howard's Cove where they lived for the next 20 years, until recently relocating to Summerside.

Errol knew many people, enjoyed pals who had a good sense of humour and his life centred around family get-togethers and functions. Be it the North, Ontario, or PEI, his relationships with relatives and friends were always a very special part of his life. His ability to tell stories and engage others through conversation was a trait that came naturally. He will be missed by all who knew him and by his family who loved him dearly.
