Betty MacEachern Obituary

In the spirit of peace and love, dearest wife and mother, Betty MacEachern left for her Heavenly home on December 30th, 2025, at the age of 88.  Born in Rusticoville, PEI, she was the daughter of Henry and Julia (Buote) Gallant.

Betty was the beloved wife of Daniel Allan Joseph MacEachern and loving mother of Donald MacEachern and Mary Crain (Vic).

Betty was predeceased by her beloved son Donald, her parents and brothers Stanley, Harold, Benny, and Francis, as well as her sisters Helen and Priscilla Gill (Jim).

She is survived by her sisters Yvonne Somers and Margaret Trotter (Gordon).  She will also be missed by her many nieces and nephews.

Betty wished to spend her final days at home in Summerside with her family for Christmas.  Betty’s wish was made possible with the help of the wonderful staff of Dr. David Antle, the Home Care Integrated Palliative Care Program and Maritime Respite Services. Many thanks also to the staff at the O’Leary Community Hospital for their excellent care and kind support.

Betty had a strong faith and was enrolled in The Children of Mary as a child.  Her love of Jesus and the Virgin Mary grew and was reflected in everything she did.  She was a devoted stay at home mom and was active in her children’s school and recreational activities.  She was an advocate for the poor and regularly donated food and funds to the Upper Room Hospitality Ministry.  She was a member of Birthright PEI and a volunteer in Atlantic Marion Gatherings. For many years, each May she hosted The Crowning of Mary as well as the promotion of the Miraculous Medal.

After retiring from the QEH Central Processing & Supply, Betty and Dan built a beautiful home and hobby farm in Fort Agustus.  Betty ran a U-Pick Raspberry farm, apple orchard and vineyard.  Her crowning achievement was learning how to be a beekeeper and raising several productive hives.  She always saw God in nature and marvelled over its beauty.  She also enjoyed travelling with her husband on road trips to the USA and pilgrimages to Medjugorje and France.  Her entire life was spent loving God in the simple duties of each day and counting on her Blessed Mother Mary to guide her.  Happily, now, she is at home with Jesus and Mary and all her heavenly family.
