The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside on Thursday, December 4th, 2025 of David Alfred Higgins of Summerside, PEI, aged 81 years. David was born in Kensington to his late parents Alfred and Catherine (Gillis) Higgins. Husband to Mary Barbara Higgins and loving father to Chantelle Bowers and Christine Higgins. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Connor, Cameron and Mireille Bowers and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Survived by the following brothers and sisters: Gary (Agnes Kennedy), Sharon West, Diane Forhan, Maureen (Imantz) Kivis and by a sister-in-law Marnie Higgins.
Predeceased by brothers Eric Higgins, Charlie Higgins, sisters Irene Higgins and Kay Higgins.
David was a high school history teacher for over 30 years, mostly in Barrie, Ontario, and has written some books about his passionate sport of rugby and Malpeque Bay in PEI.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside. Interment to take place at a later date in the Indian River Church Cemetery. Donations in David’s memory can be made directly to St. Vincent de Paul Food Bank at St. Paul's Church. By personal request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service held.
