The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her family, at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PEI, on Wednesday, November 26th, 2025 of Leona Marie (Arsenault) MacDonald, aged 91 years.
Survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Allan MacDonald and their five children Karen MacDonald, Susan Weir, Steve (Pam) MacDonald, Laura MacDonald (Paul James), Jeanette (Steve) Smith.
Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Justin, Brady, Maddy, Ryan, Claire and Charlotte. She also shared a close bond with her many nieces and nephews.
Leona was predeceased by her parents, Gus and Madeline Arsenault of Urbanville and her 7 sisters, 3 brothers and one grandson in infancy.
Leona graduated as a registered nurse from the PEI School of Nursing. She worked as a flight attendant and nurse in Montreal and then returned to PEI to continue her nursing career at Prince County Hospital. After her marriage to Allan, they bought a cattle farm in Sherbrooke where they lived for 57 years.
Leona was known as an avid card player, a skilled knitter and quilter and enjoyed daily crossword puzzles. She was famous for her delicious homemade bread, french biscuits and date squares.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Friday, December 19th, 2025 the to St. Paul’s Church for a funeral mass at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in St. Paul’s Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours by personal request.
