The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital on November 22, 2025 of Douglas Bruce Currie of Summerside, aged 84 years. Born in Alberton, PE, Douglas was the son of the late Winston Currie and Mae Currie (Boulter). Beloved husband of the late Ann Currie (Livingstone) and loving father of Morgan (Cathy Piccinin) and Reese Currie (Carin Ashton).
Also lovingly remembered by grandchildren Liam Currie and Evan Atherton and several nieces and nephews. Survived by sisters Frances Schultz and Joan (John) Leger, brother in-law Fred Livingstone and close friends Bill Millman, Leonard Murphy, Ron Saulnier, Ralph Vincent (Sonny) Grant, Shane Sauve and Freda Banks. Predeceased by younger sister Barbara Currie, brother-in-law Fred Schultz and sister in-law Catherine Livingstone.
Douglas Currie, a longtime school Principal at Elm Street Elementary School and Athena Consolidated School in Summerside is remembered as an avid golfer and curler, playing on winning teams in several provincial and regional curling events and the Canadian Senior Legion Curling championship.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside. By personal request, there will be no visiting hours or funeral service.
Interment to take place at a later date in Summerside at the People’s Cemetery. Memorial donations to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Lung Association or a Charity of Choice would be appreciated.
