The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital on November 17th, 2025 of Mary "Helena" Carruthers (nee Haywood) of Summerside and formerly of Kildare, PEI, aged 94 years. 

Mary was born in Kildare to her late parents Bernard and Frances (nee Simmons) Haywood. 

Beloved wife of the late John Gordon “Jack” Carruthers and loving mother of Brian (Rose Marie), Kevin (friend Darlene), Bruce (Linda), Mary(the late David) Pollard of North Bay, ON, Nancy, Wade, and Blair (Silvia).

Also lovingly remembered by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Survived by her sister Eunice Steele, and her brother Clarence Haywood.

Predeceased by her brothers Eric and Raymond, as well as her daughter Deborah.

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday November 24th, 2025 where visiting hours will take place from 5:00pm – 7:00pm.  Funeral mass Tuesday, November 25th, 2025 at 10:00 am at St. Paul’s Church, Summerside.
