It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Stephen Zarvie announces his passing at home on October 26, 2025, at the age of 94, with his loved ones by his side.

Born in Armstrong, Ontario, Stephen was the son of the late Danylo and Maria Zarwanycki. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Beryl (Bowness), and their children Rob (Donna Galloway), Howard (Karen Steele), and Sandra Zarvie. Stephen was a proud grandfather to Mark Zarvie (BC), Megan (Geoff) Kroeker (BC), Jordan Zarvie (Xavier Hartley) (NS), Owen (Taylor MacDonald), Sarah, and Lilly Hall; and a loving great-grandfather to Lillian and Ruby Kroeker and Mason Hartley. He will also be deeply missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Stephen was predeceased by his parents, his in-laws William and Frances Bowness, and his siblings Mickey Zarvie and Ollie Haus.

Born in Ontario and raised in Manitoba, Stephen’s adult life journey took him to many places including time in Winnipeg, Calgary, Los Angeles, and Whitemouth, Manitoba, and the last 55 years in Summerside.  Despite his origins he always considered himself an Islander at heart.

Stephen’s career spanned several fields ending in his 25 years in the PEI education system, where he shared his knowledge, patience, and care with generations of students.  After retiring, he and Beryl enjoyed many happy years together on the Island, and travelling to family and friends across the country.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the Homecare Palliative Team, and to Catherine Blacquiere and Susan Collicutt for their exceptional care and compassion.

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, Summerside until Monday, November 3rd, 2025 then to Trinity United Church for a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in People's Cemetery, Summerside. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Prince County Hospital Foundation (PCHF), the Alzheimer Society PEI, or the Canadian Red Cross.

Stephen’s memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
