The death occurred peacefully at Prince County Hospital on October 26th, 2025, of Ann Gertrude “Trudy” Matthews of Summerside and formerly of O’Leary aged 81 years. Trudy was born in O’Leary to her late parents Charles and Georgina (nee Livingstone) Foley.

Beloved wife of the late Ian Matthews and loving mother of Gregory and the late Troy Matthews.

Also lovingly remembered by several nieces and nephews.

Survived by sisters Valerie Ellis, Sandra (John) LaBeouf, brother Fred (Shirley) Foley, and siblings-in-law Shirley Foley of Ontario, Norma Harper, Ollie McNeill, Velda Leblanc, Earl (Rena) Matthews, and Anne-Marie Matthews.

Predeceased by her husband Ian, son Troy, parents-in-law Ken and Lily Matthews, brother Gerald Foley, sister Judy (Rudy) Preuse, as well as brothers-in-law Thane McNeill, Ed LeBlanc, Barry Matthews and Donald Ellis.

Donations in Trudy’s memory to the PEI Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.

The family would like to extend a big thank you to the staff of Wedgewood Manor and Prince County Hospital.

Honourary pallbearers are all the close friends who supported over the past years, you know who you are.

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Thursday October 30th, 2025 where visiting hours will be held from 1:00pm until 3:00 pm.  Funeral service to take place in the funeral home chapel at 3:00pm.  Interment to follow at People’s Cemetery, Summerside.
