The death occurred peacefully with his daughter by his side, at Prince County Hospital in Summerside on July 27 th, 2025, of Allison Laughlin "Moose" of Sherbrooke PEI, aged 84 years, following a short illness. Allison was born at home on the Barbara Weit Road in Sherbrooke, the homestead where he lived out his final years, to his late parents Edward and Mary (MacNeill) Laughlin. Loving father of Tracey Laughlin (OttoTrenholm). Beloved special friend of Wilma Nicholson.
Survived by his brother and sister-in-law Urban (Mary) Laughlin, sister-in-law Agnes Laughlin and predeceased by siblings Errol (Margaret) Laughlin, Claire (Harold) Matthews, Edward (Agnes) Laughlin, Teresa Johnson (Roland O'Connor, and John Johnson), Anita (George) O’Connor, and Helen Mahood. Also lovingly remembered by 15 nieces and nephews.
Allison graduated from UNB with a degree in Phys Ed and worked his entire career at M.F. Schurman Co. Ltd in Summerside as its Corporate Credit Manager, from 1962 until his retirement in 2005. He was past president of the RCAFA 200 (Summerside) Wing, past president of the Summerside Lobster Carnival, member of the George R. Pearkes V.C. Branch #5 Royal Canadian Legion (Summerside) and former member of the 53 C.E Monty DFC Squadron Air Cadets (Slemon Park) and the PEI Regiment. Allison was a lover of all things sports. He was a hockey player for many years and an avid hockey fan. (Sadly, he didn’t get to see the Leafs win another one either!) He also enjoyed curling and golf and enjoyed watching the Blue Jays and Buffalo Bills.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd, Summerside until Friday, August 1st, then to St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Summerside for funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Interment immediately following at St.Paul’s Cemetery. Donations in Allison’s memory to the PEI Lung Association (LUNGNSPEI @lungnspei.ca), St. Paul’s Cemetery Fund, or a charity of your choice, would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Thursday, July 31st from 5-7 pm.
