The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, at the Prince County Hospital on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, of Derek Richard of Augustine Cove and formerly of Charlottetown, PEI, aged 63 years.

 Derek was born in Charlottetown to his late parents, Henry and Alice (Pineau) Richard. Loving husband of Susan (Craig).

Loving father of Craig, Logan (Courtney) and Trevor Chappell (Kathryn). Also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.

Derek will always be cherished by his grandchildren Chloe, Carson, Caven, Jace and Benjamin.

Survived by his brother Ron (Janelle), and the following brothers and sisters-in-law: Leigh (Joyce) Craig, Sandra (Bruce) MacFarlane, Eileen (Jim) Bagnall, Evelyn MacEachern, Bill (Elizabeth) Craig and Robert (Dawn) Craig.

Predeceased by parents, Henry and Alice Richard, parents-in-law, Ivan and Annie Craig and sister Maureen (Paul) Monaghan, sister-in-law Brenda Craig and brother-in-law Reigh MacEachern.

Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 20th, from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm.

Derek's family would like to thank Island EMS, East Prince Home Care and Palliative Home Care.  The family would also like to thank the wonderful doctors and nurses at the Prince County Hospital for their compassion and care given to Derek during his time in the hospital.

A Celebration of Life will occur later with family and friends at Derek and Susan's home in Augustine Cove.
