
Obituary of James Donald McNeill
He left us without warning, just silence and shock hanging in the air on Sunday, June 8th, 2025 of James “Donnie” McNeill of Richmond, PEI, aged 74 years. Born in Summerside, PEI son of the late Leonard and May (nee Gallant) McNeill. Beloved husband of Gail (O’Connor) McNeill and loving father of Crystal McNeill-Walker (Greg).
Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Kristyn (Chad), Lauryn (Ethan), Cameron and Charlotte.
Survived by the following brothers and sister: Charlie (Donna), Glenn (Patsy), Mona (Les) Muttart, brothers and sisters in-law Brenda (Gary) MacAulay, Marilyn (Jack) Thomas, Brian (Nancy) O’Connor and Robbie (Tracey) O’Connor and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by his sister Sheila and brother in-law Paul O’Connor.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Saturday, June 14th, 2025 then to Immaculate Conception Church, Wellington for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Donations in Donnie’s memory to I.W.K. Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Friday from 4-7pm.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
