Obituary of Ivan Joseph Richard
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ivan Joseph Richard, who passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, at the age of 75.
Born on February 5, 1950, in Mont Carmel, Ivan was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Verna Richard (Grady); his son Todd Richard (Jaime); his daughter Stefanie Clark (Adam); and his cherished grandchildren Evan Richard (Megan Corrigan), Gina Richard, Ethan Clark, and Emmy Clark — each of whom brought him great pride and joy.
Ivan will be fondly remembered by his siblings: Yvette Boulanger, Marcia Gagnon, Simonne Wallace, Dianne Dunstan (Harold), Edmund Richard (Danielle Gerard), Linda Campbell (Robert), Nancy MacKinnon, Nola Murphy (Robert), Leonard Richard (Vicky Perry), Anne Richard, and Martha Nabuurs (Frank). He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Delima Richard (Lapierre), and his brother Gerald Richard as well as brother in laws, Bob Boulanger, Jean Marc Gagnon, John Wallace and Rod MacKinnon, niece Louise (Lou Lou) Boulanger and nephew Serge Gagnon.
Ivan devoted 31 years of service to the Prince Correctional Center, retiring in 2005. A man of quiet strength and warm humour, Ivan was happiest with a fishing rod in hand, a deck of cards on the table, or a toothpick and peppermint within reach.
He was a fierce crib player, a master of any card game, and could often be found sharing homemade cookies or his famous chicken fricot or boiled dinner with family and friends. His firm handshake and stronger heart will be remembered by all who knew him.
Ivan’s presence will be deeply missed but fondly remembered in every game of cards, every cast of the reel, and every shared family recipe.
Dontations in Ivan's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of PEI at https://alzheimer.ca/pei/en/take-action/donate.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
