

Obituary of Shirley Gallant
The death occurred at Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Wednesday, May 21st, 2025 of Shirley “Katie Lou” Gallant of Summerside aged 88 years. Shirley was born in Summerside to her late parents William and Catherine (Martell) Gallant.
Survived by her sisters in-law Jean Grigg and Isabel Gallant and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by brothers and sisters Clarence “Kye” (Zelda), Vernon “Vernie”, David, Irene (Ken) Fear, Florence (Danny) Warren, Dorothy “Dot” (Merlin “Nick”) Nickerson as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Tuesday, May 27th, 2025, where a funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel at 10:00am. Interment to take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery. Visiting hours on Monday from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Donations in Shirley’s memory can be made directly to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
