Obituary of Reginald William MacLellan
Reginald William MacLellan Oct. 8, 1929-May 15, 2025
Reg MacLellan passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15th, 2025. He was 95. Reg loved life, he lived fully every day. He exercised, he socialized, he prayed, he read, he helped others, he sang, he laughed, he wrote poetry, he told stories, he enjoyed his family, gardening, and his home. Reg worked his early days with Island Tele - he made many friends along the way. His volunteer work consisted of Lions Club, Minor Hockey, president of the Legion, and two stints with the Red Cross going to the Floods and Earthquake zones in the US. Reg was honored with a heritage award for his poetry. The Kitchen Poet published five small poetry books that captured life past and present on PEI- stories that evoked the spirit of bygone days, weather, travel, nature, family life, wartime, and belonging. Reg had a rich and lively upbringing with his Aunt Marie, a travelling first class graduate nurse who eventually settled in Alberton, PEI. Reg learned a lot about life and its people growing up in this small rural town. As a family we would return to Kildare by the Sea annually to enjoy its beauty and what Reg referred to in a poem ‘The Secret of Kildare’.
Reg is survived by his children, Theresa Burke (Roger deceased), Ellen Ridgeway (Lorna), Billy MacLellan (Shelley), Paula Donnelly (Maurice deceased), and Heather Steele (Paul deceased). Grandchildren; Della LeClair (Colin), Justine Ridgeway (Shawn), Molly MacLellan (deceased) Kate Ridgeway, Doyle MacLellan, Angelina MacLellan Muise (Daniel). Greatgranchildren; Liam and Gabrielle Bonaparte and Elsey MacLellan Muise. Reg was predeceased by: his wife Marjorie (nee Roberts), his aunt Marie Callaghan, his parents Mary (nee Hynes, who died shortly after Reg was born) and Charles MacLellan. His siblings, Lorenzo MacLellan, Lorena Cardwell, and Theresa McQuaid.
The family would like to thank the Health Care Teams and especially Dr. Lecours and Dr. MacLaren for all the care given to their father.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
