
Obituary of Maria Lottie Ashley Blacquiere
The death occurred peacefully surrounded by love at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, PEI on Monday March 24th, 2025 of Maria Lottie Ashley Blacquiere of Summerside, aged 74 years. Maria was born in Belle Island Nfld. to the late Anderson and Winnie Peckham (Yetman).
Beloved wife of Ernie Blacquiere and loving mother of Tammy Ashley and Judy Ashley (Jamie Clow). Also remembered by her 2 grandchildren Austin and Edward Clow and 1 great granddaughter Ava Faith Clow.
Survived by her brothers and sisters Phillip Peckham, Sharon Peckham, Marion Peckham, Shirley Murphy, Linda Geiger, Janet Jones, Eddie Peckham and Margaret Jarvis and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her brothers and sister Les Peckham, Winnie McGrady and Andy Peckham.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Rd, Summerside until Thursday March 27th, 2025 where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. Interment at alater date in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside. Donations in Maria's memory can be made directly to the Summerside Salvation Army.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
