
Obituary of Doreen Ruby Olive MacLean
The death occurred peacefully, with family at her side, at her home in South Lot 16 on Monday, March 10th, 2025 of Doreen Ruby Olive MacLean at the age of 97 years. Doreen was born in Lot 16, PEI, the oldest child of the late Harold and Ella (Williams) MacLean and wife of the late A.W. Garth MacLean. Mother of Janice Amos, Dwight (Coleen), Bruce, Vans (Margaret) and daughter in-law, Jeannie.
Survived by her brothers Allison (Edith) and Glenford (June). Predeceased by her brother Roger (Campsie), her sisters in-law, Marion (Alan) Scott and Mildred (Earl) Clark, her brothers in-law Arnold (Areta), Brenton (Amy), Neil (Audrey), her son in-law Charles Amos. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Stacey Armsworthy and children Kenzie and Taryn, Kyle Armsworthy and children Kirklynd, Keilie and Lylah, James MacLean (Lorri-Ann) and children Gemma, Griffin and Ryder, Curtis MacLean (Alyssa) and children Aly, Connor and Ethan, Stuart MacLean (Katie), Sarah Doucette (Chris) and children Sadie and Alice, Kat (Alex), Brenna (Anthony) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Doreen was a quiet lady who took a keen interest in the history of her family, community and especially the history of the MacLean Clan.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the nurses and caregivers who came to her home thus allowing her to continue with her normal routine.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday March 17, 2025 where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. Interment in the Lot 16 United Cemetery. Donations in Doreen’s memory can be made directly to the Lot 16 United Cemetery or the charity of you choice. Visiting hours on Sunday from 2 - 4 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
