
Obituary of Emma Mary Arsenault
The death occurred peacefully at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, PEI on Sunday February 16, 2025 of Emma Mary (Gallant) Arsenault of Summerside aged 90 years. Emma was born in Cape -Egmont, PEI to the late Sylvain and Matilda Gallant.
Beloved wife of the late Nazaire Arsenault and mother of Sylvia (Dave) Barron, Teresa (Blair) Aitken, Noella (Carl) Arsenault, Melvin Arsenault (Elizabeth MacKay), Gerald Arsenault, Yvette (John) Cameron, Catherine (David) Bulger and Joanne (Jeff) Steele.
Forever cherished Nanny to her 15 grandchildren Tom Simmons, Mark Aitken, Daniel Aitken, Michael Aitken (Becca), Jared Aitken, Sam Aitken, Ben Aitken, Hannah Aitken, Emma Arsenault, Marie Arsenault, Nicole Arsenault (Keegan Marr), Sarah Sprott (Matthew)
Cole Bulger, Charlie Steele and Kate Steele, great grandchild Alec Aitken and many nieces and nephews.
Survived by her brother Ferdinand Gallant. Predeceased by her brothers Albert Gallant, Cletus Gallant and Hermas Gallant, sisters Elva Gallant and Antoinette Richard, sons in -law Ted Simmons and Bob Tanner.
Emma’s greatest joy was her family and their wellbeing. She loved each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchild dearly and treated her sons- and daughter-in-law as her own family.
Her faith in God and the power of prayer provided her with a great source of comfort and strength throughout her long and loving life.
Resting at the East Prince funeral Home until Monday February 24, 2025 where a funeral mass will be held at the St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Summerside at 11:00 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Visiting hours Sunday from 3-6 p.m.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
