


Obituary of Jessie Marie Ellis
The death occurred peacefully at the O’Leary Community Hospital, O’Leary, PEI on Thursday February 13th, 2025 of Jessie Marie (MacPherson) Ellis, aged 101 years. Jessie was born in Dunblane, PEI to the late Percy and Winifred (Rix) MacPherson.
Beloved wife of the late Lorne Ellis and loving mother of Mary Lois (Blair), Alton (Moira), Brian, Grant (Maxine) and daughter in-law Donna Ellis. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Mitchell, Beth, Neil, Laura, Scott, Justin, Carmen, Richard, Dana, Curtis and Dustin, several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Survived by her sisters Doris MacDougall and Verna Heckbert, sisters in-law Deborah MacPherson and Myrna Ellis and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her children Graeme, Shannon and Ricky, granddaughter Jessie Marie Ellis, daughter in-law Jean Ellis, brother Hartley MacPherson, sister Marguerite MacPherson, brothers in-law Aubrey Ellis, Keith MacDougall, Fred Heckbert, Theiren (Shirley) Ellis, Melford (Norma) Ellis and sister in-law Shirley (Ralph) MacIsaac.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd, Summerside. Visitation funeral service will be held in the spring at the West Point Presbyterian followed by the interment in the church cemetery. Donations in Jessie’s memory may be made directly to The West Point Presbyterian Church Cemetery.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
