Obituary of Sylvia Mary MacDonald

The death occurred peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her son’s residence in Tignish, on Friday January 24th, 2025 of Mary Sylvia MacDonald (Hogan) of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 84 years. Sylvia was known as “Sibby” to some, born in Tignish, PEI daughter of the late Walter and Mary (Gavin) Hogan.

 

Beloved wife of the late Bob MacDonald and loving mother to Andrew MacDonald (Karalee Penny), Joey (Michele) MacDonald, Stevie MacDonald, Deanna MacDonald, Margie MacDonald (Shawn Wagg), Mark (Jennifer) MacDonald and Kitty MacDonald (John McWilliam). Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Laura Francis-Lamb, Michael, AJ & Robbie MacDonald, Natasha (Colin) Affleck, Hilary (John) Shantz, Nathan MacDonald (Jenna), Christian MacDonald and Katie Wagg, great grandchildren Evelyn, Aiden, William, Gabriel and Gray.

 

Survived by her brothers and sisters Freda Kinch, Susan Boyce, Victor (Dianne) Hogan, Roy (Edith) Hogan, Brian (Karen), Chris Hogan (James Gallant), sister in-law Irene and Florence Hogan and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Predeceased by her brothers and sisters Clifford (Marie) Hogan, Wilbert Hogan, Richard, Paula (Barry) Irvine, Wilma (Roger) Mallett, Michael Hogan, John Kenneth (infancy), brothers in-law Adrian Kinch and Ronnie Boyce and sister in-law Bev Hogan.

 

Sylvia was a courageous and loving woman, worked for over 25 years with addiction services where she helped many during all those years. Following her retirement she published many books on genealogy. Sylvia loved her family very much. She will be missed by many.

 

 

Resting at East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Tuesday January 28th, 2025 where a funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Grand River, PEI  at a later date. Donations in Sylvia’s memory can be made directly to the charity of your choice. Visiting hours on Monday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m.
