Obituary of Richard J Schweers

The death occurred peacefully at Andrew’s lodge Summerside on December 28, 2024 of Richard Joseph “Rick” Schweers of Summerside at the age of 74.  Rick was born to his late parents Carl and Mary Schweers.  Beloved Husband of Debbie (nee Holt) Schweers. 

Rick is survived by his brother Bob (Valerie) Schweers of West Bank, BC, brothers and sisters-in-law Dennis (Sheila) Rushton, Eddie(Dianne) Holt, Rick(Barbie) Niblet, Raymond Gallant, Darlene Holt, and Joyce Schweers.

Rick will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews, as well as many great friends.

Predeceased by his brother Bill Schweers of BC, father and mother-in-law Peter(Dorothy) Holt, sister-in-law Frances Gallant, and brother-in-law David Holt.

The following is a public post remembering Rick:

“ So long Ricky! You were one of a kind!

Rick was an ‘all in’ character in everything he did. If he was working, playing or drinking, he was all in! He was also one of the more annoying people a fellow could meet and God help you if you couldn’t take a ribbing!

He spoke in cliches which made many think he wasn’t that bright but nothing could be further from the truth and only as time passed did I realize the depth of the advice that was held in these cliches.

He also came across as uncaring by those who didn’t know him but again, couldn’t be more wrong. Ricky had a huge heart and really cared about those close to him, who he tortured mercilessly through his tongue and wit.

You will be missed by many friends.”

Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope road, Summerside, PE.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
