Obituary of Alice Gallant

 

With heavy hearts & surrounded by family her death occurred peacefully of Mary “Alice” Gallant on Friday, December 27th, 2024 at the age of 85 at the Prince County Hospital Summerside, P.E.I., she went on to join her husband the late Joseph T. Gallant something she truly desired.  Alice was born in Summerside daughter of the late Cecil and Veronica (Doucette) Gallant, the stepdaughter of the late Peter J. DesRoches.

 Alice was also pre-deceased by her oldest child the late Cecil Wilfred Gallant, her in-laws Theodore & Denise Gallant, by daughter-in-law Carol.  Loving mother of Paul (Diane), Dennis, Bev (Kent) Marchbank, Victor, Elsie (Dave) and Tania (Stephen) Paynter also daughter-in-law Tammy Gallant. Survived by sisters Audrey Doucette, Shirley (Louis) Riley, Dora  (John) Deschamp, Doreen (Clayton) Gallant & Judy Bernard, sisters-in-law Theresa, Joyce  & Sandra Gallant. She ins also lovingly remembered by her 15 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren and by many nieces & nephews. She is also survived by Joe’s family Sophie, Gus, Andrew, Peter, Martin, Stella and Clara. Predeceased by sister Sadie, brothers Aubrey (Alice), Leonard, Francis – Pinky, Carl Robert (Bobby), sister in infancy Geraldine Desroches, brothers-in-law Eddy, Joe and Brian, sisters in-law Jean and Alice.

She was also pre-deceased by a number of Joe’s siblings. Alice loved to play the guitar, and she made many friends with Blue Grass, belonging to Good Sam where her & Joe T. traveled and so enjoyed their time.

She loved the pastime of watching I Love Lucy & 3’s Company and doing Word Search Books.  Alice had a heart of gold & wanted to help anyone who could use a hand and did so never expecting anything in return.  Alice loved her children, grandchildren and family. She only wanted them happy, but she did miss Joe T. big time Alice had special friends Bev Getson, Jean Oatway and Linda Marchbank who took time to visit her & cheered her up. Alice could make bread and rapure in earlier years & none compared.

The family of Alice would like to thank the Palliative Care and Health PEI, Barb Murphy and Kelli Ellis, her daughter and son in-law Tania and Stephen for caring for her in their home, a special thanks goes out to Nancy Doucette for everything she has done for both Joe and Alice.

Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home 245 Pope Rd. Summerside,  A Celebration of life will be held on Thursday, January 2nd, 2024 from 2-4 pm. at the St. Eleanor Lions Club  121 East Drive Summerside. Donations in Alice’s Memory can be made directly to the Canadian Cancer Society. Interment to take place in People’s Cemetery, Summerside at a later date.
