Obituary of Wedge, Mary Alice
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital on Wednesday, March 17th, 2021, of Mary Alice Wedge of Summerside, PEI, aged 85 years. Mary was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to the late Archie and Sarah "Sadie" (Moran) Doran.
Predeceased by her beloved husband J.H. Richard "Dick" Wedge and loving mother of Michelle (Frank) Strain, Sackville, NB., Richard (Maureen Rogers), Paul, Nicolle (Rick) Morrison, Brian (Paula) all of Summerside and Cindy Wedge-Sullivan (Evan), Belleville, ON. Also lovingly remembered by her 11 grandchildren Stephen and Louisa Strain (Leighan); Ben and Alix Wedge; David (Sara) Morrison, Michelle (Matt) Silliker, and Marc Morrison; Marie (Dave McQuillan) Wedge, Michael (Britt) Wedge, Sarah (Chris) Ellis, and Jennifer (Corey) Ross and 15 great-grandchildren.
Survived by her sister Elaine Vlachos in Florida and her brothers Donnie in Moncton and Paul of Florida. She was predeceased by her brothers George, Edwin, and Joseph.
Mary was a Registered Nurse working on the Prince County Hospital's obstetric floor for almost 35 years. She was a lifetime member of the Summerside Yacht Club, and she was also a long-term member of the Summerside Kinette Club. Mary enjoyed spending her time with gatherings of her extended family members, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an avid knitter, an avid walker with her friends at the CUP, and enjoyed having lunches with lifelong sailing friends and nursing colleagues. She will miss spending time with her 12-year-old cat "Sam."
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside. The funeral service and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Mary's memory to the Silver Fox SYC Learn to Sail Program or the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
