Obituary of van der Velden, Harry P.
The death occurred peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009 of Harry P. van der Velden of Summerside and formerly of Shamrock, P.E.I. in his 81st year. Harry was born on October 28th, 1928 in Veghel, Holland to his late parents Antonius & Maria van der Velden.
Beloved husband of Johanna M. (nee Vissers) van der Velden and loving father of Mary (Dale) Omilusik of Acme, Alta., Tony (Virginia) of Shamrock, P.E.I., John (Sandra) of Fort McMurray, Alta., Frank (Marcella) of East Chestermere Alta., Rita (Reg) Kelly of Okotoks, Alta., Paul (Rhonda) of Summerside, P.E.I., Annette (Vance) Griffin of Shamrock, P.E.I., Andre (Anna) of Riverview, N.B. and Edward (Michelle) of Shamrock, P.E.I.. Also lovingly remembered by his 20 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Survived by his brothers and sisters Jan (Sophia) of Perth, Australia, Nellie (Wim) Vandelst of Perth, Australia, Thea (Rein) Verrydt of Whitby, Ont., Berthus (Mien) of Maria Heide, Holland, Jo (Mary) of Maria Heide, Holland, Ans (Ad) Brands of Oss, Holland, Gijs (Riek) of Veghel, Holland and Riet (Cor) Verstagen of Uden, Holland.
Besides his parents, Harry was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law Piet (Martina) van der Velden.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Friday, September 25th, 2009 then to St. Paul's Church, S'side for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Thursday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m.. Memorial donations in Harry's memory to the St. Paul's Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
