Obituary of Gallant, Ralph John
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Monday , October 12th , 2009 of John 'Ralph' Gallant of Summerside and formerly of Kensington, P.E.I., aged 86 years. Ralph was born on December 18th, 1922 in Duvar, P.E.I.. , to his late parents Rufus & Irene (nee Dunn) Gallant.
Beloved husband of Ameila (nee Bodshon) Gallant and loving father of Sally Cannon of Minto, N.B., Vickie (Bob) Walsh, Marcie (Wayne) Matheson & Ralph (Linda) all of Kensington, Julyet (Arnold) Miscich of Minto, N.B., Kathy (Bruce) Hogan of Chipman, N.B., Lorinda (Jimmy) Bonnell of Summerside, Colleen (Darrel) MacLean of Emerald, Darlene (Joey) Gallant of Cardigan, Janet (Chris) Keough of Kensington, Stephen of Clermont, Lisa Jenkins of Summerside & Janet (John) Ramsay of Emerald. Also lovingly remembered by his 36 grandchildren, 58 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson and several nieces & nephews.
Survived by his sisters Regreta O'Brien of Summerside, Lorinda Myers of Miscouche and his brother Camillus of Summerside. Besides his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his son Louis, daughter Irene, sister Mellison & his sons-in-law Junior Cannon, Larry Jenkins, Borden Bonnell & Vernon Betts.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Thursday, October 15th, 2009 then to St. Anthony's Church, Bloomfield for funeral mass at 2:00 p.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Wednesday 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m.. Comrades of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #18, Miscouche will hold a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m.. Memorial donations in Ralph's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society or to the P.E.I. Lung Association would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
