Obituary of Rayner, Velma Katherine
The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Sunday , December 27th , 2009 of Velma Katherine Rayner ( nee Smith ) of Summerside, aged 89 years. Velma was born on December 18th, 1920 in Alberton, P.E.I. to her late parents Otto & Laura ( nee Simmons ) Smith.
Beloved mother of Norma ( David ) McAllister of Napanee, On., grandmother of Michael ( Veronique ) McAllister of Oshawa , On. and great-grandmother of Kennedy McAllister. Also lovingly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Velma was predeceased by her sisters Blanche Reeves, Freda Gunning, Pearl Young and Ethel Gunning.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Thursday, December 31st for funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 1:30 p.m.. Interment to take place in People's Cemetery , Summerside at a later date. Visiting hours on Wednesday , 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. . Memorial donations in Velma's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
