Obituary of Gallant, Robert Joseph

The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Wednesday, March 10th, 2010 of Robert Joseph Gallant of Summerside , aged 82 years. Veteran of World War II . Robert was born in Mont Carmel, P.E.I. on June 12th , 1927 to his late parents Wilfred & Eva ( nee Bernard ) Gallant. Beloved husband of Bernice ( nee Pelow ) Gallant and loving father of Carol Gallant of Summerside and Terry of Vancouver, B.C. . Also lovingly remembered by his grandsons Brian ( Tasha ) Tod presently serving in Afghanistan and Christopher Tod of Summerside and his great-grandchildren Allison, Michael, Grace & Kayla Tod and several nieces & nephews. Survived by the following brothers & sisters : Rita Clow of S'side, Irene Blakeney of Moncton, N.B., Ethelene ( Ed ) Wyatt of London, On., Lorraine Goodheart of Edmonton, Ab., Wilfred of Ottawa, On., Shirley ( Fred ) Arsenault of S'side and Norman ( Fran ) of S'side. Besides his parents, Robert was predeceased by his son Bobby, his brother Johnny ( Annie ) and his sisters Doris ( Tony ) Arsenault and little Mae Gallant. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside, until Monday, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. . Interment to take place at a later date in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Robert's memory to the P.E.I. Lung Association or the Kidney Foundation of Canada would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday, 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 p.m. . Comrades of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 5, Summerside will hold a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home on Sunday evening at 6:45 p.m. .
