Obituary of McKinnon, Elaine Lois
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottetown , P.E.I. on Wednesday, March 31st , 2010 of Elaine Lois McKinnon ( nee Parkman ) of Summerside, aged 84 years. Elaine was born on Dec. 19th , 1925 in New Glasgow, P.E.I. to her late parents Stewart & Janie ( nee LePage ) Parkman. Beloved wife of the late Sigurd McKinnon and also her first husband Don Bulman .
Loving mother of Garth ( Fran ) Bulman of Charlottetown, Marlene ( Barry ) Bainard of Red Deer , Ab. and Robert ( Donna ) Bulman of York Point. Also lovingly remembered by her 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews. Survived by the following brothers & sisters: Lyle ( Elva ) Parkman of Milton, Gladys ( Reg ) MacRae of S'side, Norma ( Howard ) Watts of Alberta, Adele Parkman of the Summerset Manor, S'side and Hazel ( Carl ) Newson of S'side.
Besides her husbands and parents, Elaine was predeceased by her brother Oliver and her sister Bernice Parkman.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Saturday, April 3rd , for funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 3:00 p.m.. Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery, S'side at a late date. Visiting hours on Saturday afternoon, from 1:00 p.m. until time of funeral service. Memorial donations in Elaine's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
