Obituary of LaPierre, John William
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Thursday, April 8 th , 2010 of John William LaPierre of Summerside , P.E.I. , and formerly of Halifax, N.S. aged 44 years. John was born on January 28th, 1966 in Halifax, N.S. to his late parents Cecil & Evangeline ( nee Kendrick ) LaPierre .
Beloved husband of Charlene ( nee Gallant ) LaPierre and loving father of Dominique & Desiree. Also lovingly remembered by his father & mother in-law, Ernie & June Gallant, brother-in-law, Shane ( Debbie ) Gallant and sister-in-law Tara ( Andrew ) Gallant and by several nieces & nephews.
Survived by his brothers & sister: Allan ( Crystal ) of Halifax, N.S., Margie Emond of Nepean, ON. and Cecil Jr. of Halifax, N.S..
Besides his parents, John was predeceased by his brothers Wayne & Michael. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, April 12th, then to St. Paul's Church , Summerside for funeral service at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Visiting hours on Sunday, 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. . In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in John's memory to the Prince County Hospital Palliative Care Unit would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
