Obituary of Blacquiere, John " Arthur "

The death occurred peacefully & surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Saturday, June 12th, 2010 of John 'Arthur' Blacquiere of Summerside and formerly of Cape Egmont, in his 95th year. Veteran of World War II . Art was born on July 29th , 1915 in Summerside , P.E.I. to his late parents Moise & Philomen ( nee Gallant ) Blacquiere. Beloved husband of Eileen ( nee Gallant ) Blacquiere and loving father of Nola ( Roger ) Gill of Arizona , U.S.A., Erma ( Jack ) Bartlett of Redmond, Wash., U.S.A., Brenda Perry of Summerside & Larry ( Donna ) of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Twyla, Kelly, Jolene, Ryan, Erin, Kyle & Brandy Jo, great-grandchildren Cody, Jane & Elsa and several nieces & nephews. Survived by the following brothers & sisters : Dorothy Arsenault of S'side, Zoel Gallant of Toronto, On., Cyr Gallant of Wellington, Wilfred ( Yvette ) Gallant of Richibucto, N.B. and Georgina Gallant of Gardner, Mass., U.S.A.. Besides his parents, Art was predeceased by his son John in infancy, brothers Fred, Leo & Elmer Blacquiere, Ulric Drapeau and sisters Zita Perry & Lena Reeves, son-in-law Joe Perry and his adopted family : Anne Marie Arsenault, Eugene Gallant & Leonce Gallant. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Wednesday, June 16th , then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Tuesday evening only, 7 - 9 p.m.. Memorial donations in Art's memory to St. Paul's Church Cemetery Fund or the Alzheimer Society of P.E.I. would be greatly appreciated. Members of the George R. Pearkes, V.C. Branch # 5, Royal Canadian Legion, Summerside will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 6:45 p.m..
