Obituary of Christopher, "Ernest" John
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Friday, July 9th, 2010 of John 'Ernest' Christopher, of Parkhill Place, Summerside, aged 88 years. Ernest was born on April 22, 1922 in Piusville, P.E.I. to his late parents Linus & Adeline ( nee Bernard ) Christopher.
Beloved husband of the late Elizabeth ( nee Hippenstall ) Christopher and loving father of Shirley Fell of Ont. and Charlie ( Anne ) of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.
Survived by his sister Elizia Ellsworth and sister-in-law Exzilia DesRoche both of Tignish. Besides his wife and parents, Ernest was predeceased by his brother Walter, sister Mary Pineau, brothers-in-law Ira Ellsworth & Alex Pineau and son-in-law Bill Fell.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday July 12th, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m.. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Sunday evening only, 6 - 9 p.m.. Memorial donations in Ernest's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society, Prince County Hospital Palliative Care Unit or the Kidney Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
