Obituary of MacCormack, Gemma Josephine
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Saturday, November 13th, 2010 of Gemma Josephine MacCormack ( nee Gosse ) of Summerside, aged 87 years. Gemma was born on January 20th, 1923 in Torbay, Newfoundland to her late parents, Frank & Josephine ( nee Maher ) Gosse.
Beloved wife of the late Daniel MacCormack and loving mother of Frank ( Louise ) of Summerside, Billie ( Claude ) Gallant of Charlottetown , Gail ( Jack ) Praught of Summerside, Larry ( Jan ) of Oromocto, N.B., Mary Clair ( Rick ) Maclagan of Edmonton, Ab., Anne ( Bud ) Brander of Summerside and Joe of Calgary, Ab. . Also lovingly remembered by her 17 grandchildren , 19 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by her sister Rita McGrattan of Halifax, N.S..
Besides her husband and parents, Gemma was predeceased by her step-mother Bridget Gosse, her brother Jack , her sister Agnes and her step-brother Francis Gosse.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Wednesday, November 17th , then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Tuesday evening only, 6 - 9 p.m. . Memorial donations in Gemma's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation or to St. Paul's Cemetery Fund would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
