Obituary of Champion, Joyce Madeline
The death occurred peacefully & surrounded by her loving family at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside, P.E.I. on Thursday, April 21st , 2011 of Joyce Madeline Champion ( nee Taylor ) of Summerside, P.E.I., aged 81 years. Joyce was born on December 1st, 1929 in Fairview, P.E.I. to her late parents, Stanley & Blanche (nee MacIsaac ) Champion .
Beloved wife of the late Jack Champion and loving mother of Karen Muttart , Randy (Mary ) , Ronnie and Lori, all of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. Survived by her sisters Noreen VanDerlip of ON. & Marie Stretch of Cumberland, P.E.I..
Besides her husband & parents, Joyce was predeceased by her brothers Keith & Merrill Taylor .
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, April 25th , 2011, then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery at a later date. Visiting hours on Sunday , 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m.. Memorial donations in Joyce's memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Wedgewood Manor Equipment Fund would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
