Obituary of Walfield, Willis Layton
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Friday, May 27th , 2011 of Willis Layton Walfield of Conway , P.E.I., aged 81 years. Willis was born on April 10th , 1930 in Poplar Grove, P.E.I. to his late parents Fred and Lois ( nee Milligan ) Walfield .
Beloved husband of Sheila ( nee MacDonald ) Walfield and loving father of Carolyn Norring ( Ron ) of Summerside, Verna Enman of Lot # 16, Deb ( Rheal ) Arsenault of Slemon Park, Fred ( Cheryl ) of Linkletter, Wallace ( Sheila ) of Newfoundland, Tracey Arsenault ( Jerome Martin ) of Summerside, Travis ( Carol ) of Miscouche and Tammy ( Randy ) Coughlin of Conway. Also lovingly remembered by his 20 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Survived by his sisters Margaret Stewart of Ripples, N.B. and Lil ( Foster ) Wagner of Freeland.
Besides his parents , Willis was predeceased by his sisters Pearl ( Thomas ) Howell, Gladys Walfield, brothers George and Caleb ( Westina ) Walfield , son-in-law Dale Enman and brother-in-law Roy Stewart.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, May 30th for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. . Interment to take place in the Freeland United Church Cemetery. Memorial donations in Willis' memory to the Wedgewood Manor Equipment Fund would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Sunday evening only , 6 - 9 p.m. .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
