Obituary of Brown, Viola
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her loving family at the South Shore Villa, Crapaud, P.E.I. on Sunday, June 19th , 2011 of Viola Brown ( nee Malik ) , formerly of Durham , Quebec, aged 88 years. Viola was born on June 8th , 1923 in Slovakia to her late parents, Martin and Monika ( nee Salat ) Malik.
Beloved wife of the late Carroll Brown, and also her first husband, the late Joseph Vanis. Lovingly remembered by her sister Helen Doucette of Summerside, her brother-in-law Steve Tomkin of Cambridge, ON. , along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her husbands and parents, Viola was predeceased by her brother Sylvester Malik and sisters Justina Tomkin and Margaret Dominquez.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Monday, June 27th , for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 10:30 a.m. . Interment to take place in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside. Memorial donations in Viola's memory to the P.E.I. Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. No visiting hours by personal request.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
