Obituary of Blacquiere, Richard Peter
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside on Tuesday, July 5th , 2011 of Richard Peter Blacquiere of Summerside , P.E.I. and formerly of Calgary, AB. , aged 68 years. Richard was born on September 9th , 1942 in Summerside , P.E.I. to his late parents Raymond and Rose ( nee Peters ) Blacquiere.
Survived by the following brothers and sisters : Rose Marie Davidson of Owen Sound, ON., Elva ( Don ) Aube of Summerside, Shelia Findlayson of Gravenhurst, ON., Bonita ( Marve ) Rabjohn of Omemee, ON., Claude of Ajax, ON., Urie ( Theresa ) of Summerside, Desmond ( Pat ) of Cobourg, ON. and Charlie ( Ivy ) of Surrey, B.C. . Also lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother Greg.
Following cremation, a Committal Service will be held at St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside at a later date. Memorial donations in Richard's memory to the Canadian Cancer Society would be greatly appreciated. No visiting hours by personal request. In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
