Obituary of Harris, Wensel John Robert
The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his loving family at his late residence on Tuesday, October 18th , 2011 of John Robert 'Wensel' Harris of Chelton , P.E.I. aged 80 years. Wensel was born on February 28th , 1931 in O'Leary, P.E.I. to his late parents Isaac and Estella ( nee Morrell ) Harris.
Beloved husband of Velda ( nee Arsenault ) Harris and loving father of Kim (Scott) Jay, Michael (Kelly) of AB., Wensel (Janice), Krista (Spencer) Millman, Kent (Melissa ) of N.S. and Nicholas (Marilyn). Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren : Sarah, Kristopher and John Patrick Jay, Justin, Megan and Kayla Harris, Samantha, Lucas Harris and their mother Leann, Dylan and Molly Millman, Riley and Dryden and his great-grand daughter Amelia.
Besides his parents , Wensel was predeceased by his brothers Gerald, Sterling and Basil in WW11.
Resting at East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside until Saturday, October 22nd for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 11:00 a.m. . Interment to take place in St. Peter's Church Cemetery, Seven Mile Bay. Because of the love for his pets, memorial donations in Wensel's memory to the P.E.I. Humane Society would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Friday evening only , 7 - 9 p.m. .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
