Obituary of McKinnon, Eric Joseph
The death occurred peacefully at the Wedgewood Manor, Summerside , P.E.I. on Wednesday, April 4th , 2012 of Eric J. McKinnon of Summerside and formerly of Miscouche, P.E.I. in his 66th year. Eric was born on April 24th , 1945 in Miscouche, P.E.I. to his late parents , Percy and Kathleen ( nee Baglole ) McKinnon.
Beloved husband of the late Marsha ( nee Aitken ) McKinnon and loving father of Lora ( Art ) Stewart of Chelton, Terry ( Stacey ) of Wellington and Desmond ( Krystyna ) of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his 6 grandchildren : Joey , Jordan , Shelby, Cole, Dom and Liam ; his sister Irene ( Jack ) MacNeill of Saint John, N.B. ; sister-in-law Marge MacKinnon of Summerside ; brother-in-law Clifford Perry of Saint John , N.B. and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, Eric was predeceased by his second wife Barbara ( nee Waite ) McKinnon , his brother Lloyd and his sister Annie Perry.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, April 9th then to St. John the Baptist Church, Miscouche for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. . Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Memorial donations in Eric's memory to the I.W.K. Foundation or to Ronald MacDonald House would be greatly appreciated. Visiting hours on Saturday evening only , 6 - 9 p.m. .

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
