Obituary of Richards, Patricia " Pat " Mary
The death occurred at her late residence on Wednesday, July 18th , 2012 of Patricia "Pat" Mary Richards ( nee Smith ) of Summerside, P.E.I. and formerly of Carleton Siding , aged 64 years. Pat was born in Summerside, P.E.I. on November 17th , 1947 to her late parents Cil and Rose ( nee McCormack ) Smith.
Beloved wife of Walter Richards and cherished mother of Joseph ( Lynn ) of Edmonton, AB., Wilfred ( Tammy ) of Moncton, N.B. and Rose Richards of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Rebecca, Matthew and Austin. Survived by her sisters Ada ( Brian ) Valde of Calgary, AB. and Hazel Emery of N.S., her brother Wilbert "Bud" ( Judy ) Smith and her sister-in-law Martina Smith all of Ontario.
Besides her parents, Pat was predeceased by her brothers Leo and Ivan Smith and another brother and sister in infancy , her in-laws Alex and Hilda Richards and brother-in-law Vincent Gauthier.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside until Monday, July 23rd , then to St. Paul's Church, Summerside for a funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. . Interment will take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Sunday evening only , 6 - 9 p.m. . Memorial donations in Pat's memory to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
