Obituary of Poirier, Edward James
The death occurred peacefully at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, P.E.I. on Thursday, August 9th , 2012 of Edward James Poirier of Summerside, P.E.I. , aged 76 years. Edward was born on March 16th , 1936 in Central Bedeque, P.E.I. to his late parents Edmond and Clarice ( nee Doucette ) Poirier .
Beloved husband of Cecile ( nee Doucette ) Poirier and loving father of Bonita ( Ray ) Derraugh of ON., Michelle ( Terry ) Organ of N.S., Ken Poirier of AB. , Tammy Poirier of AB., Diane ( Gary ) Gibson , Norma ( Gary ) Barr, David De Giovanni , Cecile Crook, Vivian De Giovanni ( Ken Sellars ) all living in Ontario. Also lovingly remembered by his 2 grandchildren Jamie Rae and Joshua and step-grandson Cody. Survived by the following brothers and sisters : Raymond ( Manon ) of Que. , Celina Parker of ON., Claude ( Irene ) , Valma Reeves and Irene ( Micky ) Majocha all of B.C. and brothers-in-law Jack Parker and Paul Reeves.
Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Road, Summerside , until Tuesday, August 14th for a funeral service in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 p.m. . Memorial donations in Edward's memory to the Summerside Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated. No visiting hour by personal request.

ABOUT US
In the late 1980's, a group of citizens from the East Prince area met to discuss the possibility of establishing a co-operative funeral home. Two such homes were operating successfully in Prince County, namely the West Prince Funeral Home in Palmer Road and the Evangeline Funeral Home in Urbainville. As a result, on January 24th, 1989, the East Prince Funeral Co-operative Ltd. was formed.
